As COVID-19 swept across the United States, out-of-home ads became out-of-touch with millions in quarantine. But one group of people were still seeing them - the essential workers. #OutThereForUs was a national Ad Council initiative that transformed donated digital billboards into personalized messages of gratitude to essential workers. Anyone could write a message of thanks using our hashtag on social and tag a location so it would appear in neighborhoods where essential workers would see it.
